A huge thankyou to everyone who participated in the Australia Day at John Wearn Reserve event this year.  We had such a wonderful day, with Uncle Barry Seach, Bidgigal Elder providing a splendid Welcome to Country, followed by Lord Mayor Donna David from the City of Parramatta making an Australia Day speech, supported by the councillors from the North Rocks Ward.  The North Rocks Scouts then did a splendid job of raising the 3 new flags on the flagpoles newly installed at John Wearn Reserve.    Then in the afternoon....
In the afternoon our multi-cultural performance program involved performers from Sri Lanka, India, Vietnam, the Philippines, and of course Australia !  Thank you to North Beats Music Academy at Beecroft who did a sterling job with the stage setup and their performers were wonderful.  Thank you also to Rosanna Gallo OAM for her wonderful performance of Australian hit songs.  We especially thank the Nura Dance Workshop performers, led by founder and dancer Clarence Bruinsma, for sharing the Aboriginal Australian culture with us.

Our Australian movie "Paper Planes" was very enjoyable and the audience seemed to enjoy the Aussie BBQ, Potato Sticks, Ice Creams and coffee on offer through the evening.

Together we raised $1500 for donation to the Rotary Foundation and Tonga appeal.  We sincerely appreciate the support of the National Australia Day Council who made this event possible.

Thankyou to everyone who attended, and we look forward to hosting this event again in 2023 !
